ABSTRACT
Intelligence agencies in their enlarged and post-war forms are located on foundations in several areas of government adminis tration. These include defence, foreign affairs, immigration, con tinuing defence intelligence arrangements and politics - particularly radical and Communist politics. This chapter discusses how those administrative elements, sometimes independently and sometimes collectively, contributed to the establishment of ASIO.
