ABSTRACT

In the next ten years international retailing will increasingly become a tautologous phrase. As retailers develop international operations, the study of retailing will be fundamentally international in nature. If the last ten years have seen the international retailing literature lifecycle pass through a time of rapid growth, the next will see a period of maturity as the lacunae in this subject area are considered. Beyond that horizon, it will be increasingly difficult to see the dividing line between the study of international retailing and retailing.
