Population Pressure and Oil Revenues: Egypt and Saudi Arabia, 1962—85

A complex and changeable relationship developed between the two major Arab countries on either side of the Red Sea basin, Egypt and Saudi Arabia, from the beginning of the 1960s until the mid-1980s, one which was to have an important influence on Egypt's regional policies in the economic area and ultimately on developments in the Middle East as a whole.
