ABSTRACT
France does not have only free men among its Muslim subjects ; Algeria includes, in addition, a very small number of black slaves . Should we allow slavery to continue on soil that we control? One of our neighbouring Muslim princes, the Bey of Tunis, has declared that servitude is abolished in his empire . Can we do any less?
