ABSTRACT
Most team games in the modern era are place-specific, with the participants representing fixed places. In English football, every major team nowadays represents a city, town, suburb, village or conurbation. Modern cricket is fundamentally different from football in that it is based around a county framework, rather than just one fixed point, even though some of these counties no longer exist on the map.
