ABSTRACT

Dr Thomas K. Adams is a Senior Analyst, Research Planning Inc., on contract to US Army Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg NC for unconventional warfare analysis. He is a retired Lt. Colonel of US Army Special Operations where he specialized in military intelligence. He held various command and staff positions during a period of service that extended from Vietnam to Bosnia. As a special operations officer his assignments ranged from counter-insurgency through humanitarian assistance to counter-drug missions. His experience in contingency operations includes Somalia, El Salvador, Rwanda and Haiti. He holds a PhD in political science (conflict theory) from Syracuse University and is a graduate of the US Army Command and General Staff College. Dr Adams is the author of US Special Operations Forces in Action and the forthcoming Post-Industrial Warfare. He has also written for Parameters, Military Review and Special Waifare and is the author of numerous articles on military futures and related subjects.
