ABSTRACT
In June 1997 a policy decision was taken by De Montfort University to develop a substantial body of Web-based teaching, learning and assessment materials that can be accessed readily on campus, plus learning support systems that encourage and facilitate peer group interaction and staff-student exchanges, independent of time and specific university location.
