ABSTRACT

How should social workers be trained for work in a multi-ethnic, multicultural society? Is there a specific methodology for teaching and practice with minorities? Can social work education as it is constituted serve all students equitably? What is the rationale for such a development across Europe? These big questions lie at the heart of the response of social work education to multicultural, multi-ethnic Europe. This chapter seeks to map some of these concerns and to illustrate some of the tensions that characterise this highly contested terrain.
