ABSTRACT

From the point of view of the educational system and educational practice, the issue of the significance of general or academic knowledge and vocational skills is a substantial one. We can try to find the answer by analysing the responses to two interview questions. At the end of the life-story interview each interviewee was asked to mention one or more domains of knowledge or skills that have had significance in the course of her or his life. The question concerning the most negative experience related to education or learning was presented at the end of the thematic interview on significant learning experiences.
