ABSTRACT
This book has, up to this point, been concerned to bring together some individual perspectives on contemporary issues in literacy studies, seen from policy, teaching and research perspectives. In this short chapter I should like to begin to draw together what my own sense of these issues is and to highlight what seem to me to be some important questions for the future of literacy studies arising from them.
