ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses the child protective system and begins by looking at the social production and reproduction of formal and informal social categories of abuse and neglect. It begins with the court work group, extends its argument into the child welfare community, and then discusses the reciprocal production and reproduction of the categories with its application to this model.
