ABSTRACT
The instructor should begin with an introduction of him/herself and discuss the importance of familiarizing the older participants with the issues involved in working with "at-risk" youths. It is also important for the instructor to stress the ideal attributes of a mentor. Mentoring can be a successful and rewarding venture for both parties if they enter the relationship with an awareness of each other's backgrounds and life circumstances.
