ABSTRACT

Cognitive restructuring is excellent for people with depression or anxiety. It is also a useful way to help patients with other disorders, such as schizophrenia, to attack disempowering assumptions that they may make about their futures. For example, many patients believe that they will undoubtedly end up in the hospital again. Some believe that they will never be able to work because they have lost many jobs in the past, even though they may be much healthier today than they were at that time.
