ABSTRACT
The authors were asked by Rhea Almeida, Ph.D., to participate in a dialogue regarding transformations (or lack thereot) each have witnessed regarding race and gender. We deliberated about how to best structure the conversation. At first we thought e-mail would be more expedient. However, we finally opted for a bit more intimacy-a telephone conversation. This was later transcribed then edited by the authors. Lynn agreed to facilitate the mechanics of the conversation. She generated some initial questions. These were sent to Evan and Elaine for consideration prior to the dialogue. The dialogue commenced on November 10, 1997. Lynn: As an overview, we have four general areas of possible discussion:
