ABSTRACT

The military largely covers up the sexual abuse unless it serves their own purpose to prosecute. More often than not, the military revictimizes the woman who has been assaulted. (Female, raped on active duty with no charges filed against rapist)

PERSONAL PERSPECTIVES

No one can offer a closer look at sexual harassment and rape in the military than those who were victims. Personal perspectives provide an insight that is unparalleled. With that in mind, female and male victims were asked to provide feedback on how the military intervened in the aftermath of their abuse. Although there were a wide range of experiences, remarks easily fell into two distinct categories: positive or favorable responses, and negative or unfavorable responses.
