ABSTRACT

In the 1990s, sexual harassment is receiving increased attention. The costs to resolve incidents of sexual harassment are significant. Even more harmful and costly, however, are the negative effects sexual harassment has on productivity and readiness. These include costs associated with increased absenteeism, greater personnel turnover, lower morale, decreased effectiveness, and a loss of personal, organizational, and public trust. While not easily quantified, these costs are just as real and seriously affect the Department of the Navy’s ability to meet the needs of our Nation.
