ABSTRACT

Cognitive Orientation to daily Occupational Performance (COOP) is an approach to intervention that uses the power of cognition to drive successful performance. The CO-OP approach is based on the premise that cognition plays an important role in the acquisition of occupational skills and, by extension, the development of occupational competency. Created for use with children who have occupational performance deficits, the CO-OP approach can be used to promote the acquisition of new skills and the improvement of existing skills. In CO-OP, intervention focuses on the use of cognitive strategies to solve performance problems and to develop occupational competency.
