ABSTRACT

From time to time, a number and variety of individuals, clergy and lay persons alike, have asked how the church/synagogue/parish might be more effective in developing ministries with older persons. I, too, have pondered this question. I have worked with congregations for a long time and have therefore experienced both successes and failures in working with the elderly. In this short piece I would like to share some of my reflections on do's and don'ts, and perhaps give some indication as to what is likely to work and what is likely to fail.
