ABSTRACT
One sure way to avoid dialectical dead ends is to never try to solve a problem or win a debate. But the path of total abstention is also barren of the fruit that labor may bear. Just as fear of bad apples shouldn’t make us forgo all apples, fear of wasteful debate shouldn’t cow us into intellectual retirement. Instead, we should just be pickier about our apples.
