ABSTRACT
Just as backwards reasoning and means-end reasoning are useful shortcuts for solving problems, challenging points of background consensus is a useful heuristic in dissolving a problem. Indeed, some philosophers have done the heuristic the honor of (mistakenly) defining ‘pseudo-problem’ as a question with a false presupposition.
