ABSTRACT
Should you work from a question or develop a hypothesis? Don’t try to decide before gaining further clarity; there’s a logical relationship between existing knowledge on your topic (which you learned by reviewing the literature) and how you finally formulate your research problem. “Reading around” clarifies your purpose, which then suggests a design and makes the choice relatively self-evident.
