ABSTRACT
What country do Mr. Taylor or Mrs. Smith live in, Australia, or the United States? The answer is, that from these descriptions they could live in either country. While Australia and the United States each have their own distinct histories and important stories to tell, the similarities and common concerns are over whelming. Both countries began as colonies of England. Both countries were settled in part by the criminals and debtors sent from England to Georgia in the United States and to New South Wales and Tasmania in Australia. Both countries had wilderness areas to concur, and unfortunately, both countries tried to eliminate the indigenous communities of people who lived there prior to the landing of Europeans. Both countries fought in the two world wars as well as in Vietnam.
