ABSTRACT

Since I left the business no one ever contacts me anymore. It's like I don't exist for them now. The business was a god; I defied it and now I'm not even in the family.

We hold with the highest regard this idea: that people are more important than things. The people, the family members, in a family business are its greatest assets. We have emphasized this point before and will do so again. The network of committed family members who will guide the business and act as stewards of the business for future generations are the real wealth of the business-its human and intellectual capital. A business-owning family aiming to successfully preserve its wealth and well-being therefore must cherish and retain its people.
