ABSTRACT

Regardless of the media used in offering students a range of learning resources, it is important that an institution values the irreplaceable role of teachers in a flexible learning environment.

Although the needs and wants of students and the technology available to them are the main factors that guide the determination of the media used, other factors associated with the teachers, the institution, and the nature of the course should be considered. In most situations, using more than one medium is best. The complexity and uniqueness of the learning process means that students react differently to different media at different stages of the development of their understandings.
