ABSTRACT
This article describes the open source software movement as a form of resource sharing and examines the possible benefits of using open source products in resource sharing operations. A sample of open source applications designed for resource sharing is supplemented by a list of several other applications that may interest resource sharing librarians. Readers can then imagine what a “gourmet” resource sharing system might look like. The article also suggests some possible steps for developing such a system.
