ABSTRACT

The serialist/holist cognitive style is a measure of a bipolar information- processing strategy that describes the way that learners select and represent information (Pask, 1976; Pask & Scott, 1972). Pask found that the learning of complex subject matter involves: (a) building descriptions, or an overview of the topic and how topics interrelate, or (b) building operations such as the detailed, underlying interrelationship of concept elements.
