ABSTRACT
This chapter presents a preliminary framework for theoretically analyzing concepts and conceptual understanding. This introductory section gives a brief overview of current theories of concepts in cognitive science. As I understand the situation, we have theoretical analyses of concepts, knowing concepts, and understanding concepts developed in two general frameworks, which I call denotational and procedural frameworks.
