ABSTRACT
The output of the Triptolemos Painter is elegant but pretty conventional, as a survey of pp. 360–7 of Beazley’s red-figure book demonstrates. Yet one of his stamnoi1 presents an apparently bizarre scene which has yet to be satisfactorily explained.
