FIELD EXPERIMENTS ON ETHNIC INTEGRATION IN ISRAELI SCHOOLS

This chapter describes several recent field studies conducted in Israel that evaluated classroom interventions intended to improve educational outcomes for pupils studying in ethnically and socially desegregated settings. Some comments on the shortcomings of earlier desegregation research appear at the beginning of this chapter, whereas the final section discusses the implications of the Israeli studies for designing more adequate educational environments for the desegregated class.
