ABSTRACT
Sabu, Charles’ Super Go-fer, loved entertaining in the basement apartment on Ellis Street that he shared with his lover Ted. The ceiling was low and strung with exposed plumbing pipes along its surface. Sabu would fill the place with total strangers, the cast members of the Gilded Cage shows, and any visiting celebs he could round up. He was a talented chef, cooking up a storm—usually preparing spicy Portuguese concoctions larded with sausages and garlic.
