ABSTRACT

The paper is a summary of observations gleaned from many years of teaching graduate students in courses on music bibliography. The goal is to point out some differences in perception which have been observed between students in classes designed for music history and theory majors, for majors in music librarianship in schools of library science, and for performance majors in university schools of music. The teaching of bibliography to performers does not need to present insurmountable problems to either students or the instructor.
