ABSTRACT

Vincent Chukwuemeka Ike was born in Ndikelionwu in Orumba area of Anambra State of Nigeria. He attended the Government College, Umuahia, from 1945 to 1950, where he obtained his Cambridge School Certificate. He earned his B.A. from the University College, Ibadan, in 1955 and his M.A. from Stanford University in 1966. He has been a fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Management (1987); a member of the Committee on Examinations in West Africa, University of London (1971–75); a member of the founding committee of Okike: An African Journal of New Writing (1970–71); Editorial Committee member, The African Writer: Journal of the African Authors Association (1961–62); refugee officer in charge of Umuahia Province, Biafra (1968–69); convener, Nigerian Book Development Forum (since 1990); and commissioner, Headquarters Scout in charge of Nsukka Province (1970–71.
