ABSTRACT
N A V A R R A NAVARRA is an AUTONOMÍA situated between the PAÍS VASCO and the French border. It is felt by Basque nationalists to belong historically to the PAÍS VASCO, along with the Basque provinces in France. However, the majority view in NAVARRA is against union with the PAÍS VASCO. It has a population of half a million and covers an area of 10,421 square kilometres. It is an important region for agriculture and produces fresh, dried and canned vegetables, as well as other food products and table wines. It has a number of car assembly plants, including SEAT. Its capital is PAMPLONA.
