ABSTRACT
Location: In the Sind province of southern Pakistan, on the Indus River, 140 miles northeast of Karāchi; 400 miles southwest of Harappa.
Description: Mounds mark the site of the largest city of the Indus Valley civilization, which flourished during the third and second millennia B.c.; excavations begun in 1922 have revealed an extensive, sophisticated, and wealthy culture.
