ABSTRACT

Plassey, once known only as a favored hunting site of the eighteenth-century nabobs of Bengal, gained a place in his tory on June 23,1757, as the site of the famous battle between the British forces and the army of the nabob of Bengal. The nabobs' loss at Plassey changed the face of India, marking both the beginning of British control in Bengal and the collapse of the Muslim Mughal Empire.
