ABSTRACT
Location: In northwestern Rājasthān state, in the Thar Desert, approximately 225 miles west-southwest of Delhi.
Description: Bīkaner is an oasis city; its walled settlement, with ruins of the original fort, survives. Outside the wall stands Junāgarh Fort, surrounded by the modern sector. The city includes superb Jain and Hindu temples and intricately carved mansions (havelis).
