ABSTRACT
Maps 5 and 6 will serve to indicate that the Irish language was near to death as a native medium in Leinster by around 1900. It lingered near Omeath (north Louth) until the 1950s, but only because the death of the last few native speakers came much later than disuse of the language for social intercourse.
