ABSTRACT

This Unit is intended to encourage discussion about the planning, teaching and assessment of science in your school. As a review of present policy and practice, it is seen as the first step in identifying the needs of both the school and the staff. You may wish to follow this Unit with Unit 4, ‘Planning for Science: What Do You Need to Write Down?’, or to delay this work and to focus instead on some of the aspects of science that are addressed by other Units and that are identified as ‘areas of concern’ during the Review Session.
