ABSTRACT

The most precious resource in exhibition work is the group of people who create the exhibits, build them, and make them available for the use and enjoyment of the public who come to learn from them. The effectiveness with which resources are used is judged by the way members of the group spend their time. One of the most important and useful tools for managing the work of the team is a system for scheduling what has to be done and when, monitoring what actually takes place, and comparing the two. The necessary management action can then be taken to ensure that, despite the inevitable hiccups that disrupt the schedules in the short term, the exhibits are nevertheless ready on time in the end.
