Practical 9 Tutor notes This chapter presents more conceptual problems for the student than most. It is important for the student to understand that the sentential level involves features of organization in addition to grammatical elements (dealt with in Chapter 8), and that it is these features which make sentences what they are (as defined in this book): ready-made vehicles for communication.
