ABSTRACT

In the last chapter, we discussed how the Web could be used to deliver and support a learning event. The Web and Internet technologies can also be used to support traditional learners who are studying at a learning institution or some other organization. This method of using the Web is called Web-based learning support or Web-based performance support. This chapter discusses how Web-based learning can be used to support a learning event that is conducted in a traditional face-to-face environment. Some of the methods are more appropriate to distance learning events, but can still be used to support a face-to-face environment. Here the designer must determine which methods are the most appropriate, taking into account learners' characteristics, the topic under study and the learning environment.
