ABSTRACT

With the availability of today's small and inexpensive microcomputers, computer-assisted instruction (CAI) has now become a reality for everyday classroom applications. For relatively little cost (e.g., $20-$30), a software disk containing one or several CAI programs in virtually any school subject can be purchased and used over time with many different classes of students. Even a fairly simple program may contain such features as graphics and animation, interactive responding, and personalized feedback, all of which serve to increase the attractiveness and versatility of the lesson relative to a textbook or programmed instruction version.
