ABSTRACT

The lesson activities will include work on stamina, strength, and suppleness; movements such as bending, twisting and stretching, with emphasis on balance and co-ordination. The lesson activities will involve travelling and body tension but little work on suppleness. The lesson activities will involve a thorough warm-up and body preparation section with emphasis on pulse raising followed by mobilising exercises which will promote suppleness. The lesson includes stretching, bending, and balance movements with work stressing control and co-ordination into whole body actions. Work on strength and stamina aspects is also included. Part of the cooling down phase of the lesson can be used to engage the children in discussion as to how the activities have affected the way they feel following the exercise. The lesson activities include movements requiring stretching, bending, co-ordination in movement and balance, as well as elements of strength work.
