ABSTRACT

Having created a classroom charter and undergone the process of rule making, the pupils can explore through similar structures rules for other areas of the curriculum. It is our view that it is possible to do this for any curriculum area. For example, the rules for number in maths, particularly for patterns of number, the rules for the chemistry side of science in terms of atomic tables, formation of gases and so on. The basic structures: random pairs, brainstorming – re-forming, fours, sharing, ordering, sorting and prioritising, whole-circle feedback, group presentation – poster, drama, newspaper, pottery or lego model, are the same.
