ABSTRACT

Based on my own previous research, three categories of truants have been found to emerge. These findings were first published in Truancy and School Absenteeism (Reid 1985; pp. 48 and 50). Each of these three categories can be easily identified. The usage of these categories can be especially helpful as we develop our knowledge of successful treatment strategies. It is highly likely that in the future we will be able to propose different reintegration strategies for each of the three categories.
