The musculoskeletal system
All living organisms are made up of cells. The human body is made up of billions of cells, which are organised into complex groups that carry out specifi c functions. These groups include the cardiovascular system, which transports blood around the body, and the musculoskeletal system, which enables us to move. The fi rst part of this chapter describes the four fundamental types of cell in the body and the organisation of the cells within functional groups. The second part of the chapter describes the composition and structure of the musculoskeletal system.
