Market Time in France
This chapter, thus, explains how collective bargaining over a span of 20 years succeeded in establishing the market time at the workplace in France. Starting with the issue of working time, negotiations began confi guring the labour and product markets. In return it incorporated time in global agreements that had a particular goal. These had the underlying effect of removing time as the protector of the individual. Time was becoming the means of serving a different purpose and, hence, the signifi cance of changes in time norms.
