ABSTRACT

The environment, in the normal sense, simply refers to the physical and social conditions where people live. It could also refer to natural conditions, such as the air, water, and land in which people, animals, and plants exist. Thomas Easton (2012) and Robert Taylor (2012) contend that the environment is made up of both biophysical and socioeconomic elements, including not only areas of land, air, water, plants, and animals, but also other natural and human-modified features that constitute the totality of the ecosystems. A common characteristic of the ecosystem in Nigeria is that they are interrelated (Dibie, 2000). Any disruption in one ecosystem often results in negative effects on the other ecosystems in most regions of a country.
