Converging objectives: regulating international trade and the global labour market
This chapter has three sections. The first section considers the basic trade law principles and certain important provisions in trade law. The second section then compares the basic principles of trade law and labour standards. The third section makes some initial observations on certain practical difficulties in linking labour standards to trade law, and provides a foundation for more specific policy proposals that begin to make this linkage, and which are given in Part IV of the book.
