DEAN KLECKNER, retired farmer and former president of the American Farm Bureau Federation, has an alarming message for Iowa voters. “The American farmer is under attack by government run amok,” he says. “Over-regulation is
killing the American farmer.” And what sort of regulations might be threatening the
livelihoods of Iowa farmers and the state’s agriculture-based economy? Well, here’s a
doozy: the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) wants to regulate dust on farms.
